Flood Prevention
Flooding garden. This was cured by constructing a bund and walls around the property. Drainage within the bunded area is collected in manholes and either gravity flows out, or is pumped when water levels are high around the outside of the bund.
Large submersible pumps are installed for this operation, contained with 1200mm diameter manholes, connected to the downnpipes from the property.
Flood prevention wall constructed from concrete blocks and faced with natural stone, creating a waterproof barrier.
Extra drainage work was also needed to drain water from the house, using gravity drains and submersible pumps, used when the water levels in the ditch rise above the natural outlet.
Once the drainage works were completed, a new entrance was constructed and the driveway strengthened with new sub base stone and overlaid with chippings.
FLOODED STABLE YARD
This flooding problem was cured by carrying out water diverstion through new 300mm drainage pipes, away from the area, preventing the floodwater getting here in the first place. No works were needed at the stables to minimise disruption.
